Be Ready – The Keys of Pope Celestine V proposes in little more than an hour crucial passages in the life of the protagonist, from his childhood to his monastic experience, from his renunciation of the Papacy to his later, bitter contrast with Boniface VIII and his so greedy, uninhibited vision of temporal power. In outlining this journey on the screen, the authors made use of scrupulous attention to the sources, then sought the verisimilitude of the reconstruction in the costumes, in the meager but appropriate scenic elements, in the search for peculiar Abruzzi locations, in that fascinating soundtrack that is not at all obvious in evoking the Middle Ages.
